I’m starting to hate it. Actually, I love the grounds. It’s an older campus and kinda shabby but it’s so peaceful there in the evening. It’s actually quite pretty in places. No, what I hate is the students. All those gibbering idiots. Yeah, I’m not really all that smart either, but at least I have a handful of brains and an ability to discern what’s crap and what’s not. These people eat up everything that’s thrown their way and sit there blankly, wanting more. They can’t think on their own, they can’t act on their own, heck, most of them can’t write on their own without the professor telling them what to do. It’s like being back in high school but with a 4000 dollar tuition. Nice, real nice, I tell you.
College? Worth your dollars?
April 7, 2008I found this article, via Instapundit (no big surprise there) and I have to say it’s very interesting. While I am enrolled at Texas State University, I would have liked to go somewhere else. Not because I don’t like Texas State, I do, but I feel that I would be getting a better education elsewhere. Unfortunately, my financial circumstances have not allowed me to go to a private college like I would have wished. This article gives me hope. Apparently spending thousands and thousands of dollars on higher education is not the smartest way to go. I knew that of course. But society demands that we go to college- that every single person have a string of letters after their name- and the more expensive the college, the prettier the letters! Ha. Well I think this is all Bull. College is a great thing, no doubt. But to bury yourself in debt for something that may not be worth it? Eh. Not so much.
Is anyone good at math? Anyone?
April 7, 2008Because I really think that math geniuses are extinct. Lately, it seems as though the number of English, Business, Political Science, and Pre-Law majors has gone steadily up, while Math majors have decreased. Is it because you can’t make money doing math? No, of course not. My theory is that no one is actually good at math anymore. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see how you can be good at algorithms and square roots. It’s as though math is a whole other language; one that is impossible to become fluent in. Are there any mathematicians out there? Or have they all decided to become novelists?
