Recently, E! network premiered two new shows with some very old (as in “we’re sick of hearing about them” old) “stars.” One show is called, “It’s Complicated” with Denise Richards and the other is “Living Lohan” with Dina and Ali Lohan. Now the first I won’t rip to shreds because I really know nothing about Denise Richards. But the second one… well that’s fodder for LOTS of criticism. The show’s premise is to tell the story of Dina Lohan trying to raise another “star”, her daughter Ali. Cameras follow them around, chasing every second of their presumed glamorous lives and the amazing things they do each day. My problem with the show, aside from the fact that it’s just lame, is the mother figure. To anyone who doesn’t know, Dina’s most famous daughter, and her only reason for the spotlight now placed upon her, is Lindsey Lohan. Yes, Lindsey, the one who’s famous for her parties with Paris Hilton, her relationship with Wilmer Valderamma (firecrotch, anyone?) and her three stints in rehab. (or was it two?) Whatever. The point is, is that Dina Lohan is no mother. She’s a fame-whore who will use anyone, including her own children, to push her way to stardom. But what a price she’s paying! Divorced, with an ex-husband who bitterly despises her, and with one child who has so many problems one doesn’t know where to begin on them, the woman is the picture of one who has lost everything but yet thinks she has it all.
I generally despise celebrities and all their pictures they take, but I am forced to look at them anyway, every time I open a magazine. There’s one from Lindsey Lohan’s cascade of pictures that I remember and that is the one with her in between her mother and father. The picture was taken when Lindsey was around 16 or 17-not too long ago. It shows a happy girl with two smiling parents. It looks so normal. And it makes me wonder what might have been. Sad, really.
Eh, another one bites the dust.
