Election Day

November 5, 2008

I hate my life.

Election Eve

November 4, 2008

Given that this race is going to be very close and that it is the most important race in American history, I am going to be spending a good deal of my time tomorrow on my knees in prayer. I have school and work, but none of those come close to the importance of this presidential election. Given the amount of people who are also praying and who have been praying, I am fairly confident that the will of God will be done tomorrow. I don’t know what His will is, and what His plan for this election and this country is. All I know is that His hand is in everything that happens tomorrow and all we need is either the grace to accept it, or to show gratitude for yet another chance.

“If my people, which are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

II Chronicles 7:14

McCain’s Victory

October 31, 2008

When this race first started, oh, about five years ago, I wanted McCain to win because he would be the better president. Then it progressed to me despising Obama so much that McCain needed to win just so I wouldn’t have to listen to him spew his crap. Now, I want McCain to win so that I can see all the democrat’s heads explode. I want him to win so every celebrity on the planet will stop talking about the “youth vote.” I want him to win so that all the newspapers that are predicting his defeat will cease their efforts immediately and have to rewrite all the stories they planned out. I want him to win so that the AP will be caught with its foot so deeply in its mouth that it chokes. Most of all, I want him to win so I can hear the endless screams of, “RACISM!” and then I’ll be able to laugh knowing that the democrats are sore losers and this is the final nail in their coffin.

I want McCain to win so badly right now that I can taste it.

Election Fury

October 25, 2008

This election is bringing out the nastiest sides in people. It’s disturbing and also a little scary. Every time I’m driving and I see a ‘Obama/Biden’ sticker, I want to ram the offending car. And I know that if I had a McCain/Palin sticker (I don’t because I live in Austin, Texas) they would want to do the same to me. This election sucks not only because it’s completely dishonest and we have a total moron running, but because it’s dividing the country more than ever. I see hate, literal hate, spewing out when people talk about politics. I avoid the political conversations entirely because people can’t be nice about the subject anymore. They can’t keep a cool head and they can’t keep their offensive words and stereotypes to themselves. Every Democrat is a “stupid rich hippie who drives a Prius and hate the troops.” Every Republican is a “stupid, gun-toting, bitter, religious nut with ten kids.” And it isn’t true AT ALL. I know intelligent people from both sides yet I persist in believing the Democrat stereotype because this election makes me so angry. And I know many on the left who feel the same way. The election of 2008 is dividing the American people more than ever and it is a scary, scary time for all of us, blue or red.

The saddest thing about all of this is the fact that the Democrat candidate is persisting in believing those stereotypes. After all, he was the one who condemned the Republicans in Pennsylvania as “bitter, and clinging to their guns and religion.” Really, now. Who wants to elect a man like that? I don’t! I don’t want a man who looks down and condescends to me because I refuse to believe in his mantra that guns are bad and religion is even worse. I don’t claim him as my god and he seems to resent it. And I hate it. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a reason why I am NOT voting for Barack Obama in 2008.

Voting! Mission Accomplished!

October 25, 2008

On Wednesday of this past week, I took the plunge, waited in line for about forty-five (!) minutes and VOTED. It was so awesome. I am completely hooked on voting and the awesome POWERFUL feeling it gives me. I wish that I could vote again and again but I’m not ACORN candidate nor a Obama supporter (wait, they’re on in the same, right?) so I can’t. Boo.

The most awesome thing about casting my ballot and seeing all the little red boxes filled in, was knowing that I was canceling out the vote of the stupid girl behind me who was “votin’ fer Obama!” The sad part about it was was that she was really nice. And I wish that she had been voting for McCain so I could feel more friendly toward her. But as it was, I really just wanted to shove her into a closet and keep her there. Just kidding!

That blue and red line. It just gets bigger every day.

Cindy McCain vs. Sarah Palin

October 25, 2008

Really, that title sucks. Because there isn’t a competition. I’ve heard some morons (liberals, usually) who like to say that John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running-mate because “she’s hot” and he’s just a “dirty old man.” First, that’s not exactly what they said, but I’m too nice of a person to actually say what the exact words were. Second, what crap. Cindy McCain is beautiful. She really is. She’s a different kind of beautiful than Sarah Palin, but pretty nonetheless. There really aren’t very many comparisons to make between the two, other than the fact that both are women (ha!). So, to all those that persist in thinking that John McCain’s VP choice was made for… uhh, shall we say “unorthodox” reasons, lay off. He already has a beautiful wife and I’m pretty sure he’s sticking by her…. unlike some Democrats I know! I could say more bu that would be unkind.

Sarah Palin’s wardrobe

October 23, 2008

Everyone is making a big, stupid deal about how the RNC spent 150,000 dollars on her clothing. Piece. of. trash. So WHAT??? I am a young professional. Everyday I am required to dress professionally and with the appropriate clothing suitable for a professional environment. And let me tell all the bloggers who work from home and who’ve forgotten about what it’s like to dress nicely – buying clothes that look nice and are nice is hard and it’s EXPENSIVE. Very expensive. I figure that in my closet right now is probably close to five thousand dollars worth of clothing and shoes. And that’s with me buying off sale racks. So does the fact that 150K was spent on Sarah Palin and her family’s wardrobe bother me? No, because I expect it. Throughout the last twenty to twenty-five years, such a big deal has been made over various designers that most of them now rank their self-image right up there with God’s and price their clothing appropriately. These days, paying for nice clothing is expensive beyond belief and it’s just going to get worse. We have the average run-of-the-mill dress costing five thousand dollars along with the pair of Christian Louboutins that go for a grand a pop. And, if you’re in the limelight all the time like Sarah Palin, you can’t wear the same thing twice. It isn’t allowed. You have to show that you’re able to be in any kind of situation and still look fabulous because you’re a woman and that’s what people are going to notice first. It sucks and it’s anti-feminist and whatever, but that’s the case. It’s always been the case. And it always will be the case.

Appearances count. No one understands this more than politicians. It’s the first thing they learn when they run for office. You always LOOK NICE. Beauty is expensive pain, but it’s well worth it in the long run. Anyone who complains about Sarah Palin’s wardrobe needs to shut up. It’s really not worth the time or energy. I mean, she looks great so what all does it matter?

A.P. is dying

October 22, 2008

Woo hoo! Those biased morons are finally getting what they deserve as one paper after another continues to let them go. Ha. Personally, I’m not sure why any newspaper that claims to be fair and unbiased would even buy stories from the A.P. Their rampant adoration of Barack Obama and thinly disguised contempt for anyone connected with John McCain or Sarah Palin is shameful and shouldn’t be tolerated. So… I am in complete agreement with this post by Kevin Williamson via NRO. And, I suggest that some Republicans get started on that immediately. I know of a lot of people who would be more than willing to write for/invest in a non-biased news organization.

I know, I know, some people might say that Republicans would be biased. But they’re only fooling themselves. No, Republicans would simply run their sides of the story along with everyone else’s, a privilege that has been lacking during recent years. For once, it would be a fair shot as far as the media is concerned. Heck, if someone doesn’t do this, I will. Screw college. My future lies in a new world!… as far as media reports go.

Debt-free? Not so much.

October 22, 2008

I recently got a new car. Not because I really wanted it, mind you, but because I wrecked my old one and I needed something more fuel-efficient than my dad’s jeep. So, I got it… and it sucks. Because now? Now I have a car payment that’s due EVERY MONTH. I know, I know, welcome to the world of adulthood, huh? God, the adult world sucks. I hate having debt, I hate it, hate it and I want nothing more to do with it. I am sick of my stupid car payment every month and I want it to be over, NOW. Really mature, yes, I am aware of this. That’s the way I roll.

Seriously, how do people manage to have a house payment, car payment, and all those other bills due every month? I would lose it. I hate debt and have decided to just save my money so I can buy whatever I need outright.

Yes, I realize this post makes me sound like a spoiled brat. Well, there’s nothing spoiled about not wanting debt. That’s just normal, people.

College Tuition! And how I’m not paying for it.

October 22, 2008

Rachel Lucas has an interesting post up regarding college tuition and kids who don’t pay for it.

Well. I am a college student and my parents are footing one-hundred percent of the bill. Is that a bad thing? I’m going to say no. I understand that I am extremely privileged to not have to pay for my schooling. I understand that, and I also understand that just because the money isn’t coming out of my pocket it doesn’t give me a license to goof off and get crappy grades. My parents work hard for that money, and they saved for quite awhile too, just so I would be able to concentrate on school full-time. But, being the spendthrift that I am (J. Crew!), I have a job and I work about twenty-five hours a week. Not killer, but certainly enough so that my grades have slipped slightly. Do I feel bad? Sure do! My parents didn’t save up for years so I could get C’s. But, I’m working on it.

Going to school is a privilege and it’s one that very few kids appreciate. It irritates me to no end when I hear of a student complaining about attendance policies and how they have, “more important things to do than go to class.” Like, God.

Retards! You are paying to GO TO CLASS. Paying thousands and thousands of dollars for the right to sit in those hard chairs. Why anyone would skip on the opportunity to do so so they can go to the mall or “hang out”, I’m not sure. But, given that they aren’t paying for said opportunities, I start to understand a little more. Making good grades only becomes important when one is paying for those grades. And that is gist of it all.
